EVALUATION OF THE EFFECT OF TOPICALLY APPLIED METHYLSULFONYLMETHANE AND THEIR COMBINATION WITH MINOXIDIL SOLUTION FOR IMPROVEMENT OF HAIR GROWTH IN MALE MICE.
We explored the potential of Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) as a treatment to minimize hair loss. In our study, we used twenty male Wister Albino mice, carefully dividing them into four groups to test different treatments: a control group with distilled water, a group treated with Minoxidil, one with MSM, and a group receiving a combination of MSM and Minoxidil.
Over the course of the study, we observed that the mice given MSM experienced notable improvements compared to the control group. Specifically, hair growth increased, and hair follicle numbers were significantly higher in the groups treated with MSM, whether alone or in combination with Minoxidil.
Additionally, we found a reduction in tissue levels of 8-isoprostane—a marker of oxidative stress—in the medicated groups, pointing to MSM’s antioxidant properties. There was also an increase in vascular endothelial growth factor, suggesting enhanced blood supply to the hair follicles.
Our overall conclusion is that MSM shows promise in reducing hair loss through its remarkable antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects in male mice. This research indicates that MSM could be a valuable ally in the fight against hair loss.

Hair recovery success

I can't believe such a result! I've been taking these vitamins for only a month. I always had perfect hair (not dyed or styled), but its structure changed drastically in summer, leading to split ends and hair loss. I tried numerous shampoos and oils with no success! I decided to tackle the issue from within. Now my hair is better than ever—silky, shiny, soft, and growing quickly! I cut the ends every two weeks by 2-3 cm. I’m thrilled with my vibrant hair. Additionally, my nails have become strong and are growing quickly, saving me on frequent manicures! I highly recommend this to anyone struggling with unhealthy hair. Growth after stress
After experiencing significant stress due to hair loss, I took this along with brewer’s yeast, and my hair actually grew thicker.
Hair loss, also known as alopecia, is a common condition that affects both men and women, characterized by the thinning or complete loss of hair from the scalp or other areas of the body. It can occur due to various factors, including genetics, hormonal changes, medical conditions, and environmental factors. The most prevalent type of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia, often referred to as male or female pattern baldness, which typically results in a receding hairline or thinning crown in men and overall thinning in women.
In addition to genetic predisposition, hair loss can be triggered by stress, poor diet, certain medications, and underlying health issues such as thyroid disorders or autoimmune diseases. There are various treatment options available, ranging from over-the-counter products like minoxidil to prescription medications and hair restoration procedures, depending on the severity and cause of hair loss. It's crucial to consult with a healthcare professional to determine the most appropriate treatment plan tailored to individual needs and conditions.
Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is a naturally occurring sulfur compound that is often used as a dietary supplement. It is found in various fruits, vegetables, grains, and animal products, but its concentration in these foods is relatively low. MSM gained popularity for its potential health benefits, particularly in the realms of joint health, anti-inflammatory effects, and skin care. Many users report improvements in symptoms related to osteoarthritis and joint pain when using MSM supplements.
The mechanism behind MSM's effects is believed to be related to its ability to support the body's production of collagen, which is essential for maintaining healthy cartilage and connective tissues. Additionally, MSM is thought to have antioxidant properties that might help combat oxidative stress, further promoting joint and overall health. However, while many anecdotal reports support these claims, scientific research on the efficacy of MSM is still ongoing. As with any supplement, it's crucial to consult with a healthcare professional before incorporating MSM into your regimen, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking other medications.
MSM, or methylsulfonylmethane, is a naturally occurring sulfur compound that has garnered attention for its potential benefits in various health areas, including hair growth. Some proponents of MSM suggest that its anti-inflammatory properties can improve scalp health and promote stronger hair follicles, which may help mitigate hair loss. Although anecdotal evidence is widely circulated, scientific studies specifically linking MSM to significant hair growth or hair loss prevention are limited. However, some users report positive outcomes when incorporating MSM into their hair care routine, particularly when combined with other beneficial ingredients like biotin or collagen.
If you're considering adding MSM to your regimen for hair health, it may be worth exploring topical applications or supplements. However, it’s essential to approach such treatments with realistic expectations and consult a healthcare professional if you have underlying issues contributing to hair loss. They can provide personalized advice and help you determine the most effective treatment options based on your needs.

Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) has shown promise as a potential supplement for reducing hair loss based on recent research. A study involving male Wister Albino mice demonstrated that those treated with MSM exhibited significant improvements in hair growth and increased hair follicle counts compared to a control group [1]. This suggests that MSM may positively influence hair regrowth mechanisms, and its effects were noted even when combined with Minoxidil, a commonly used hair loss treatment.
Furthermore, the study highlighted MSM's antioxidant properties, evidenced by a reduction in oxidative stress markers and an increase in vascular endothelial growth factor, which is crucial for blood supply to the hair follicles. These findings indicate that MSM might not only help enhance hair growth directly but also support healthy hair follicle environments [1]. Overall, while more research is needed, current evidence suggests that MSM could be an effective supplement for those experiencing hair loss.
